Gezhouba Converter Station is the first 500 kV UHV DC project in China - ±500 kV Gezhouba - Shanghai DC transmission project。The DC single-pole rated transmission capacity of the station is 600,000 kilowatts, and the bipolar rated transmission capacity is 1.16 million kilowatts。Since the project was put into operation in 1989, with the increase of operation years, some equipment in the station is aging, which is difficult to meet the needs of safe operation and needs to be reformed。To this end, in November 2022, the technical transformation project of Gezhouba Converter Station was started。
